In adult classes I teach and work with ages 16 and up, all genders, abilities, levels and physical limitations. If you want to learn martial arts to defend yourself, develop a physical art, get in better condition, become self empowered or master your own body, I create training sessions to reach your goals.
Classes start with basic exercises and stretches to warm our muscles and joints, increase cardio, strength, flexibility, overall conditioning and prevent injuries. Safety is always first and you are never required to do anything that hurts or doesn't feel right for your body. Classes will alternate between Kempo (hand strikes, kicks, blocks, stand up sparing), Jiujitsu (rolls and basic ground grappling) and other self defense techniques . As you progress you will move onto more intermediate Kempo, Jiujitsu techniques like throws, break falls (being thrown), ground submissions (chokes, joint locks and other submissions), Tai-Chi Ch'uan (up close fighting, throws, standing joint locks and more). Then when you are ready I'll introduce more advanced techniques including weapon forms, applications and defense against weapons as well as more advanced stand up sparing and ground grappling techniques.
You are not required to buy and wear a gi (traditional martial art training uniform) the first month, but you will be required after the first month. I do not have a standard testing every three months. I only test when you are ready and want to test. This systems belt ranks are white, yellow, orange, purple, blue, green, brown 1, brown 2, brown 3, and black 1 - 10.
Beginner gear: a mouth piece is required for all, a cup is required for men and highly suggested for women
Intermediate and Advanced gear required: MMA style gloves, head gear, shin and foot pads.
